This piece is one of two of Jen’s depictions of Australia’s native golden wattle tree, which dotted the landscape of her outback Queensland homes. Golden wattles have very distinctive bright yellow pom-pom-like flowers and are Australia’s floral emblem.
Vibrant yellow complemented by brown, white, and other bright colours are accompanied by tangles of white, black, and brown to create a sense of movement. Jen enjoyed experimenting with unconventional methods and materials in this piece.
