The Watcher - Original

$1,750.00

It's been 56 long days since my wife flew the coop for another fella. She said, "The grass is greener on the other side,” and she didn't want to put all her eggs in one nest.

So whilst she has been feathering another's nest, I have been left alone to protect our brood.

I've spent the last 56 days sad and alone, in a trance-like state with little-to-no interest in anything, even food or water. My oath to protect my babies at any cost has been my sole responsibility since my wife left over a month ago.

It must be getting closer now. The long wait is nearly over. I've been watching and waiting ever so patiently to greet my children, to let them know they have a Daddy who will care for them unconditionally.

I know it's close. I felt them moving around starting to break free. Here they may rest a day or so before they can start to pip the shell.

Wait! What's that?! Aahhhhh.... Finally, I can hear a faint whistle from within one of the eggs. My hatchlings are on their way!

Another whistle, it's getting louder now…

I watch on eagerly as the first hatchling emerges, then the second, followed by their siblings. It is a proud day.

This original piece is not being reproduced in prints. The size is 45.5cm x 61cm on stretched canvas, ready to hang.
